Undeniable Truth

An undeniable truth: we are all more alike than we are comfortable admitting.

I talk to people -- all day, every day. It's practically a full-time job (that I do for free). And I love to do it. Because the more I talk with people, the more I realize how similar all people are.

We all need love. We all need acceptance. And as hard as it is to admit sometimes, we all need each other.

I recently challenged myself to learn to like certain people that I didn't particularly want to have a picnic with.

For the record, I would love to have a picnic
with any of these lovely ladies.
It's been so eye-opening.

When I first came up with this goal for myself, Sister Snyder told me,
"If you don't like somebody, you don't know them well enough."

That is so true. I've learned so much, not only about others, but about myself.

I've learned that my first impression of someone is rarely how they actually are.

I've learned that everyone has insecurities, but I don't always see them right away.

And I've learned that I really do like everyone that I get to know well.

I'm not the only person that can benefit from this challenge. Imagine how different the world would be if we all strived to understand each other better. I challenge you to choose one person in your life that you wouldn't go on a fishing trip with, and get to know them better. I know you will be surprised.

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." (Romans 8:16)
